Hats, Socks and Mittens

These are a few examples of the hats, socks and mittens I’ve made.
(As this site is not an online shop, the pictures show what I have and can make. I may have some in stock but they may not be the items shown.)

They’re nalbinded using naturally dyed wool. I tend to work mainly in Mammen stitch as it suits the wool I use. However, I sometimes work in Oslo, York and Asle stitches as well.

Hats.

Mittens

Socks.
It’s easier to make these for other people if you have a tracing of the foot.
That takes some of the ‘guesstimation’ out of making the sock!

Cowls.

I also make cowls as specific orders.

  1. do you have tutorials on how to make the hats & socks? I’m very new to nalbinding and would love to learn how to make more items. TIA. ˚Ü˚

    1. Hi Becky – I don’t have any tutorials of my own. I have no ‘patterns’ as such for the hats and socks; I just make them up as I go along. Perhaps if you google ‘nalbinding hat/sock’ and check out videos you will find something.
Once you have the basic stitch sorted, and know how to increase and decrease you should be able to make them. I found this blog post – maybe it might help with the theory of making then without a pattern 🙂 http://gs-crafts-n-things.blogspot.ie/2011/08/how-to-make-hat-any-hat-any-craft.html
